Cabo Wedding Recap
Let’s rewind a bit
Our wedding in Cabo turned out to be perfect after going on 3 years of being engaged and 3 wedding contracts!
Dubbs and I were set up by mutual friends in 2018 during a trip Telluride, CO. We started dating long distance shortly after as I lived in Denver and he lived in California. We survived long distance with plenty of hiccups and ended up getting engaged in 2019.
I moved to San Jose, CA, a few months after getting engaged and about a week before Covid. We had started planning a wedding in Denver but realized we wanted something different. We decided on New Years Eve in San Francisco and got right to planning. My plans of splitting my time between Denver and CA for a year and our NYE wedding didn’t quite work out the way I had hoped.
2020
2020 was hard all around. All of us sacrificed and pivoted in some way. While we ended up generally luckier than most – we certainly navigated our challenges through 2021 and 22. I was not able to work as I didn’t have my cosmetology license or a clientele. I took it as an opportunity to go deeper on resolving some health stuff. I got to the root of some thyroid issues and started therapy and micro-dosing to support healing.
Unfortunately, we suffered two ectopic pregnancies in May 2021 and March 2022. While I am lucky I didn’t need surgery, 2 rounds of methotrexate are no joke. I struggled physically from healing, and emotionally we were both pretty low at this point. Looking forward to the wedding was a bright spot for us as we navigated these experiences.
Planning
Once we decided on Cabo, we were pretty set on The Cape even though we hadn’t been! First step was hiring a Cabo based wedding planner. I saw that Rachael Devaux got married at the cape and used Events by Bliss. They ended up being our first and only call and the wedding wouldn’t have been what it was without them!
If there is one piece of advice I would give you when planning a wedding is that the planners know when things need to be done more than you do! There were a few times we were asking about things that didn’t need to be done for 6 months. Planning was literally a breeze with Heidi, Estefani, and Olivia with Bliss. All of the vendors are listed and linked below! We would not have changed a single thing about the wedding!
Timeline
Wednesday – Arrive to Cabo. We had a final meeting with planners and the hotel.
Thursday – Wedding festivities begin with a welcome dinner at Toro Latin Kitchen. Because our wedding was only 38 people including us, we really wanted to do a special welcome dinner and Toro did not disappoint!
Friday – Wedding, happy hour, and reception at The Cape.
Saturday – Buffet brunch followed by a pool day. Setting up a casual buffet brunch kept the day after the wedding relaxed and easy. We reserved 2 cabanas by the pool so people could order food and drink, have shade, and somewhere to sit and relax.
Sunday – Guests depart and we went to The Montage with some friends for a few more days to unwind a bit.
